Dorothy Ralph Obituary

Dorothy A. Ralph was born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada, on September 25, 1914. She passed away on August 24, 2012, in Escondido, CA. Her parents were Mary Nicholson Akern from England and Martin Akern from South Dakota. She moved to California at age nine and was educated in the Los Angeles area. She married Charles L. Ralph on September 1, 1940, in Hillyard, WA.
Dorothy is survived by three daughters, Sharon (Bill) Cantrell-Jaap of Colorado, Janice (Charles) Johnson of Poway, CA, and Denise (Bob) Jeske of Washington; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. She had a sister, Irene Reindel, and a brother, Gordon Akern.
Her adult life was spent in Temple City, CA, where she operated a child care facility in her home for 28 years and owned an antique and plant shop. Upon retiring in 1981, Dorothy and Charles moved to Paradise, CA, where Charles passed away in 1984.
Dorothy was an avid gardener, reader and bingo player. She spent the last six years in the Poway-Escondido area.
She will be buried in the Paradise Cemetery next to her husband.
