On the morning of June 27, 2015, Lois passed away after a three-year battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully at Pomerado Hospital in Poway at 12:25am. At the time of her passing, Lois was 82 years old. Lois was born in Marshall County, Alabama, on June 18, 1933, the fourth of six children of Willie and Burton Davis. After high school, she left Alabama to attend school in New York. She returned home and married Royce (Tommy) Provence in December 1952. They were married for 22 years until his passing in 1975. She enjoyed moving around the world with her husband, who was a Navy Man, and their children, settling in Poway in 1969. Lois was a loving, hard working, and a strong-willed woman who inspired many. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a wonderful friend to many who knew her. She was very passionate about cooking and a proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Royce; sisters, Lillian, Gladys and Bobby; brother, Thurman; and daughter-in-law, Linda. She is survived by her sister, Faye Irwin; son, Tim Provence; daughter, Pamela (Mike) Roncadori; son, Kerry (Dawn) Provence; grandson, Nathan Myers; granddaughter, Brooke (Ryan) Berrett; granddaughter, Alicia (Chris) Farley; granddaughter, Britton Provence; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Brandon and Gabriel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to the Ladies Auxiliary VFW-Cancer Aid & Research, 406 W 34th St., 10th Floor, Kansas City, MO 64111.
