Long-time Rancho Bernardo resident Elizabeth "Beth" Shirk passed away with family at her side Thursday, October 11, 2012, in Poway, CA, after a lengthy struggle with myotonic muscular dystrophy. She was born February 18, 1947, in Bethlehem, PA, to Edward F. Williams and Laura May (Stehly) Williams. She attended El Centro High School and Imperial Valley College and earned a degree in graphic art from San Diego State University. She was well known for her intaglio prints and watercolors. Beth will be remembered as a kind, loving and gentle soul, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Beth is survived by her husband, John Michael "Mike" Shirk; daughters, Jennifer (Andrew) Schilling and Karen (Ben) Kelly; stepdaughter, Linda (Howard) Gale; stepsons, Steven (Ailyn) Shirk and William (Claudia) Shirk; sister, Sue (Tom) Lehmann; brothers, Edward (Cheryl) Williams and John (Patricia) Williams; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church, 17010 Pomerado Road, San Diego, CA 92128.
