Katherine “Kathy” Anne Laws(1951 – 2013)

Kathy Laws passed away peacefully at her home on March 13, 2013, after a brave battle with cancer, with her husband Bob by her side. Kathy was born January 31, 1951, in Lakeside, CA, to John and Shirley Semenick, the second of six children.
The family moved to Ramona when Kathy was in 8th grade. She graduated from Ramona High School in 1969. She met her husband of 43 years, Bob, at Ramona High School. They were wed on November 21, 1970, and had three children, Kimberly (Chris) Jelinek, Jeff (Yoly) Laws, and Marcie Laws. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Emma and Alyssa Jelinek (Kim), Erika and Emily Laws (Jeff), Robert De Los Santos (Jeff), and Evan Laws (Marcie); her mother, Shirley Semenick; siblings, Susan Gossman, Niki Pancer, John Semenick, Steve Semenick and Peter Semenick; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
While Kathy mainly spent her life being a stay-at-home mom, she also was a Teacher's Aide with the Ramona School district for more than a decade. Her devotion to all children was apparent by the hours she spent getting involved with PTA, being a room mother, and her work as a Teacher's Aide, plus the time she lovingly spent babysitting and caring for all of her grandchildren.
In addition to spending time with her grandkids, she and Bob enjoyed traveling and particularly liked to follow the Padres and see them play out of town games. She also enjoyed trips to New York City, a girls' trip to Paris with her sisters, and an Alaskan Cruise with Bob. Kathy also loved playing Bunco and was part of a local Bunco group for many years.
Her funeral will be on March 23, 2013, at 11am at the Ramona Cemetery. A reception to celebrate her life will follow immediately at her son Jeff's residence.
The Laws family wishes to thank Elizabeth Hospice for providing such wonderful, compassionate care during the final days of her life.
Bonham Bros & Stewart Mortuary is assisting the family.
