Phyllis Weynton Tulloch(1919 – 2012)

Loving wife, dear mother, devoted grandmother, and warm-hearted friend, Phyllis Weynton Tulloch, of Poway, passed away on September 13, 2012. She concluded a full life, providing a heart-filled caring home for her family.
Her husband, Page H. Tulloch, and newborn child, Thomas, preceded Phyllis in death. She is survived by her four children, Leslie Tulloch, Pamela McPherson, Constance Tulloch and Page Tulloch; daughter-in-law, Alina Rossano; seven grandchildren, Jody, Katie, Cody, Cristen, Corri, Robert and Michael; and great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Halley.
Phyllis was born September 15, 1919, in Oakland, CA, to Oswyen and Clara Jones. At age five she and her parents settled in Laguna Beach, CA, where Phyllis completed grade school and several years of college. In her youth there, she developed a deep love of the Pacific Ocean and its coastline, spending many hours at the beach.
Phyllis met her husband, Page, from San Diego, CA, in Laguna Beach on a sunny day when he was showing a neighbor boy how to spin a top.
World War II soon followed with Page serving in the U.S. Navy as a Patrol Torpedo boat captain. Following the war, Page and Phyllis settled in San Diego and later Poway, CA, raising their children.
Phyllis's great gift was her loving heart. She was utterly devoted to her family, making a home in the truest sense of the word. From her beautiful garden to her seasonal décor and family holidays, Phyllis put her heart into everything she touched, including shuttling children and sheep to 4-H shows at the county fair.
Phyllis also managed Saint Bartholomew's Thrift Store for twelve years benefiting various community service projects of the Episcopal Church. She resigned from the thrift store to care for her then bedridden husband for seven years until his death in 1992. Following Page's passing, her interests centered around her family, her garden, her beloved dog Shadow, feeding wild birds, reading, and following PGA golf. To the very end of her life, Phyllis remained the caring and loving person that was the essence of who she was. For those who knew Phyllis, her love was deeply felt and remains a cherished memory.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. at the Old Poway Park Templars Hall, 14134 Midland Road, Poway, CA.
The family suggests donations be made in her name to the Surfrider Foundation San Diego Chapter, P.O. Box 1511, Solana Beach, CA 92075 or to a charitable organization of your choice.
