Marilyn A. Izor Obituary
Marilyn A. Izor, 86, passed into Glory in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 10, 2012, after a brief illness. Marilyn was the second child of the late John and Gladys Zaebst of suburban Cleveland, Ohio. Her older brother, Bob Zaebst, 90, passed away in April 2012.
Marilyn met her husband, Herman Izor, at the Fairview Baptist Church in Fairview Village, Ohio, in 1945, following the war. They were married in 1946 and celebrated 66 years together last June. Together, they raised three sons, were active in their churches and after Herman's retirement in 1974, they traveled extensively throughout North America in their motor homes and Airstream trailer.
As a young mother, Marilyn was active in the local school PTA, serving as President. She enjoyed a successful career in several occupations including secretary to the head of a bank trust department. In retirement she volunteered in numerous community service agencies, the Welcome Wagon, Wally Byam International Caravan Club, the Airstream owners club, and the Hospital Auxiliaries of Charlevoix, Michigan, Tucson, Arizona, and Palomar Pomerado in Poway, CA.
Upon moving to San Diego, Marilyn, with Herman, became active in The Church at Rancho Bernardo as a worship service greeter, marriage retreat mentor and volunteer in many ways. Always at her best in her kitchen, Marilyn regularly baked cakes and desserts for the Salvation Army Mission.
Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Herman; three sons, Paul (Michele) Izor of Mount Hermon, Robert (Catherine) Izor of Medford, Oregon, Bill (Karen) Izor of Poway; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held December 1, 2012, at 11 am at The Church at Rancho Bernardo. The family requests that you share your written thoughts and remembrances to the Church. Private burial will be at Miramar National Cemetery.
A Memorial Fund has been established in remembrance of Marilyn with Mount Hermon Association, P.O. Box 431, Mount Hermon, California 95041. Please send your gift with an appropriate designation.
