Jim was a true friend to Hanna Center. A dedicated and active Board member, a member you could always count on for sound advise and a friend to the boys as he and Gloria would open their home for the boys to enjoy the pool and Jim´s car collection
One of the all around good guys! He is missed

I'll miss my old friend Jim, as a fellow board member at Hanna Boys Center and especially swapping tales of duck hunting. God bless him and sincere condolences to Gloria and family.

I grew to love the sound of Jim's ATV tootling through the vineyard, knowing that he'd soon be hollering over the fence with a good story. I can't imagine how much Gloria and the family must miss him. I certainly do.

We will miss this man! I had the pleasure of knowing and interacting with Jim for close to twenty years in my capacity as COO of Hanna Boys Center. He was an active, dedicated and passionate Board Member, a true mentor to many of us who participated on the facilities committee. Gloria and Jim would open up their home to our boys so they could enjoy a swim in their pool and view his auto collection.
His smile was warm and contagious. I will cherish his stories.
In addition, my wife Donna and I have fond memories of playing mini golf with Jim and friends at the Maxwell Village Mini Golf Course that he was instrumental in building for our community.
This list goes on and on about how he will be missed.
We agree, he was like an old Chevy. "They don't make them like they used to!" Scott and Donna Singer

My husband and I first met Jim last summer at the Continental Mine up near Bonners Ferry, Idaho. It was a chance encounter. As an amateur photographer, I was instantly drawn to this man with his grandson, Peter. I had never before asked a total stranger if I could photograph them. There was such magical bond between Jim and Peter.
When some of the group up at the mine decided to take a tour down into it, I choose to not go, as did Jim. My husband and Peter along with others went down into it and were gone a couple of hours. While the group was gone I had the pleasure of spending time with your loved one, Jim. Along with his beloved companion, Old Blue.
Jim shared a wealth of knowledge of the area, his philosophies on life, some of his adventures and his love of his family. He brought me to tears. This incredible man, whom I had just met a couple of hours earlier, blessed me in ways my dad cold no longer do. You see, my dad, also named Jim, was going through end stages of Alzheimer's. My dad had grown up at Priest Lake, Idaho, just over the mountains from Bonners Ferry. My dad use to share his own stores of the area, my dad could fix anything; he loved adventure, cars, wine and his family. It was one month later, to the day of meeting Jim Smith that my dad passed away. Your Jim blessed me so. For a short time, I could hear and see my dad in your Jim. I even told him how much he reminded me of my own dad. It was truly a magical afternoon for me.
Over this last year, I have emailed with Peter. When Jim and Peter returned to north Idaho this summer, my husband and I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Jim and Peter.
Thank you for sharing your husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and loved one with me. I will treasure the magical moments I had with him.
Blessing to all of you who knew and loved Jim,
