Robert James Tunney Jr.(1941 - 2018)

Robert James Tunney Jr., age 77, of Goetzville, Michigan, died September 6, 2018, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was born February 21, 1941, in Saginaw, to Robert James and Edwina (Hagen) Tunney.
Robert "Bob" was the oldest of ten children. He graduated from Saginaw High School in 1959. He served in the Army National Guard until July 1961. He went directly into the Air Force and served until 1966. He earned the Sharpshooter badge while serving.
Bob worked at General Motors Grey Iron Foundry for 25 years. Not too long after retiring, he made his home in Goetzville living peacefully on his own.
Bob loved his family and spending time with them. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, kayaking, boating, bowling, wood carving and burning. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years. He was a member of the AM Vets and a Fourth Order member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob was an active member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Goetzville.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sharon Cherry, whom he married on February 16, 1962. He is also survived by his four children, Robert Tunney III (Lisa Smith) of Essexville, Michigan, Ronald and Mary Tunney of Saginaw, Richard and Jennifer Tunney of Littleton, Colorado, and Sandi List of Waterford, Michigan; grandchildren, Scott Skrzypczak, Breann (Sean) McMannamy, Erin Tunney (Fiancé Erik Finnegan), Connor Tunney, Morgan Tunney, Isaiah Castillo, Zachary Castillo, Katie Tunney, and Kaela List; and his many, many friends in Goetzville.
Bob was preceded in death by his brothers Lee Tunney, David Tunney and Tim Tunney.
Visitation will be held Sunday, September 9, from 5-7 p.m. at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129 in Pickford, Michigan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, 12841 E. Traynor Road in Goetzville.
Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery next to the church.
