John Graham Obituary

John D. Graham of Sault Ste. Marie passed away at his home on August 5, 2017. John was born in the Soo to Donald and Frances (Larke) Graham. Little did the family know that his future wife (Connie Barrett) was born two days earlier in the same hospital.
John grew up on his grandparent's farm on Larke Road, which remains in the family to this day. John had lots of happy memories and stories to share about growing up on the farm. His wit and ability to remember stories, facts and people made for many interesting conversations with family and friends.
John was employed for 38 years at Edison Sault Electric and served in numerous positions during that time. He retired in 1991 as the Sault Division Manager over the Meter and Line Departments. For several years, John helped Jake Himmel with many local auctions.
In 2014, he went to an auction of The Gin Mill as he had never seen a bar auctioned before. John came home from the auction as the proud owner of a bar. John and the family opened The Wicked Sister in January, 2015 and it remains in the family with John's granddaughter, Cathy, as owner.
Surviving John are his 4 children John B. (Nicole) Graham of Lusk, Wyoming, Jeanne (Ken) McCulligh of Sault Ste. Marie, Nancy (William) Rose of Sault Ste. Marie and Laurie (Matt) Jarvie of Rudyard, Michigan. John is survived by 9 grandchildren. Catherine (Brian) Howell, Mike (Jessica) Rose, Jake Graham, Collette Graham, Tristan Graham, Julianne Graham, Riley Graham, Erin (Daine) Pavloski and Graham (Arin Baril) Jarvie. John is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren: Daniel Howell, Aidan Howell, Finley Howell and Emma Rose. John loved his grandchildren. John is also survived by his dear friend, Joyce Seaman and sister-in-law Mary (Barrett) Desrochers and her children.
John was predeceased in death by his parents; his wife, Connie Graham; his daughter, Cathy Graham, and his brother, William Graham.
Visitation will be held at Hovie Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rod Case officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens. Memorials may be left to Hospice of E.U.P.

As a good friend of Jeanne and Ken, I spent many wonderful visits with John and Connie, sitting around in their warm, friendly kitchen, listening to stories, laughing, and eating that terrific "Graham" corn on the cob! I KNOW that the whole 'clan' all have special memories to carry them through these hardest of times. Love to you all, Sal

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

John came to visit the Happy Hideaway on occasion while I was a bartender. He told me about his farm, his very old horse and generously gave me some sacks to cover the weeds under my porch. A nice man, that I think of every time I pass the farm. Condolences to the family.
