Albertine M Savoie Obituary
Albertine Savoie passed away February 13, 2019 in the loving care of her family. She was born on November 11, 1931 at the family farm in Kelden, Michigan to Eugene and Catherine (Kowalczyk) Desormeaux. Albertine was the third oldest of 12 children.
Growing up she worked on the farm along with her brothers and sisters. She first attended a one room schoolhouse in Kelden and then went on to school in Pickford. As a young woman she moved to the Sault and worked as a waitress at the Olympia Restaurant. It was there that she met Raymond Savoie. They were married on May 10, 1951 and remained together for 60 years. Together they raised four children. Albertine enjoyed sewing. She was a good cook and liked to bake. Her Christmas cookies were always a hit. Later on she went to work at The Evening News, working in the circulation department for over 20 years. Albertine was a very kind person who cared for and loved her family very much. Never one to complain, she felt blessed for the life she had. Albertine will always be remembered for her quiet, soft spoken way.
Albertine is survived by her daughter, Janice (Kurt) Kipling; her sons: Gary (Kelly), Mike (Jocelyn) and Ron (Nancy Larsen); grandchildren: Mindy (Mike), Ryan, Brooke, Sandi, Michelle (Paul), Stephanie (Luke), Patrick, Andrew, Angela (Sean) and Nicole; great-grandchildren: Avery, Nolan, Rayce, Ryder, Rhett, Molly and Paul. Also surviving are sisters: JoAnn (Bill) Fleury, Rose Marie Roberts, Delores Stark, Phyllis Libby. Brothers, Clifford (Judy) Desormeaux and Roger (Debbie) Desormeaux.
