OSCEOLA - Virginia M. (Fridley) Sample, 87, of Osceola, died Monday at Elkhart General Hospital. The Middletown native was born July 29, 1925 to Lloyd and Janie May (Rogers) Fridley. She was formerly employed in the kitchen at St. John's Hospital in Anderson. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Sample; and sons, Robert Sample and Michael Sample. She is survived by her son, William C. Sample of Osceola; her daughter, Carolyn Sample of Osceola; daughter-in-law, Cassandra Sample of Osceola; brothers, Claude Fridley of Anderson, Louis Fridley of Middletown and Joseph (Ella Mae) Fridley of Markleville; grandchildren, Deanna (Daniel) Shroyer of Lagrange, Charlene (Greg) Sample of Indianapolis, Joseph Sample of Houston, Texas, Richard (Michelle) Sample of Elkhart, William Sample in California; three step-grandchildren, Morgana (Daniel) Uselton of Mishawaka, Cassidy (Jennifer) Bryan of South Bend, and Joseph Becker of Detton, TX, and 22 great-grandchildren. Services are 2:00 Friday, December 7, 2012 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Friends may call Friday, 1-2 pm, at the funeral home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
