SOUTH BEND - Gale M. Lowe, 77, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in his home. He was born on May 9, 1936, to the late William Robert and Rauzy (Harold) Lowe in Niles, MI, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two daughters, Jan Diment and Monica Herberson, both in 2005; and by a brother, Robert Lowe. Gale retired on June 1, 1999, from A.M. General, where he worked as an inspector for 33 years. On November 14, 1955, he married Barbara J. Beadle in Niles, MI. She passed away on March 24, 1996. Gale is survived by his companion of 17 years, Norma Kane of South Bend, IN; one son, Sidney J. (wife Jay) of Elkhart, IN; seven grandchildren, Katrina (husband Carl) Carter, Becky (husband Joseph) Glover, both of South Bend, IN, Gayle (husband Jesse) Martinez of Harvington, TX, Carrie Lowe of Elkhart, IN, Cody Diment of South Bend, IN, Christopher (wife Alicia) High of Elkhart, IN, Krystal Martin of Elkhart, IN; nine great-grandchildren, Joe and Ben Glover; Marie and Daniel Martinez, Abby and Emily Lowe, Cameron High, Yeasmen Scott, Kyle Scott Jr.; one sister, Shirley (husband Doyle) Fox of Niles, MI; his twin brother, Dale (wife Mary) Lowe of Niles, MI; and several nieces & nephews. Mr. Lowe was a U.S. Air Force veteran, where he served his country for 10 years. Gale loved to hunt and fish. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Kaniewski Funeral Home in South Bend, IN, with David Enders officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN, where military services will be conducted. I Didn't know gale very well but I was best friends with your daughter Janet . And I'm very close to Gayle .I just wanted to say sorry and god bless you and your family .

Gale was a great friend and an all around good guy. I will always remember our times hunting and fishing together. He will be in my memories forever. Condolences to his family and especially to Norma, who was by his side through all.
