Geraldine Andrews Obituary

May 1, 1927 - Oct. 21, 2013
GRANGER - Geraldine "Jerry" Andrews, 86, went to see the Lord October 21, 2013. Born May 1, 1927, Jerry was the daughter of the late Oren and Ruth (Hinderer) Weiss. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilfred R. Smith in 1972; second husband, Edgar "Jake" Andrews in 1985; two brothers, Kenneth and Richard Weiss; and loving friends, Woodrow "Kimo" Whittaker and Al Crudele. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Randy (Connie) Smith; two grandchildren, David (Stephanie) Smith and Jenna (Kevin) Bauer, (all reside in Granger); four stepchildren, Gloria Pocock, Grace (James) Adams, Margie (David) Davidson and Gary Andrews, all of TX; four step-grandchildren, Clinton, Brittney, Hunter and Nicole; seven great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Betty Huber of Mishawaka; and brother, John (Alice) Weiss of Bremen. Jerry quite simply lived life as if every day was her last. She was well-known for her extremely joyous personality and genuine care for others' wellbeing. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. Jerry was truly a free spirit who enjoyed sightseeing and all of God's creations; she was home no matter where life's journey took her. Jerry has several family and friends in various states as far away as Hawaii, which lovingly earned her the nickname "Grandma Hawaii" that many family members knew her by. Jerry graduated from Madison Township High School in 1945 and later worked at Ball Band (Uniroyal) for 29 years. She was a lifelong patron of Bonnie Doon's, adored her dog "Bear" and cat "Princess", and was most recently a member of the Women's Auxiliary in Alturas, CA. She was a delightful storyteller with a beautiful smile that was always present on her loving face. Her most cherished stories included memories of camping and fishing with her husband Wilfred and son Randy. Jerry's loving and caring ways truly made the world a better place and she will never be forgotten. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 24 from 4-7 PM with a 4:30 Rosary service at McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23; enter off Cherry Rd. Funeral services will be Friday at the funeral home at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South Bend Center for Hospice Care, who lovingly made her last days as comfortable as possible.
