SOUTH BEND - Mr. Johnnie Lee Ervin departed from this life at 3:20 a.m. December 2, 2013, at the Caring Hands Nursing Home in Peru, Indiana. Johnnie was born in Tutwiler, Mississippi, on December 9, 1948, to J. D. Ervine and Ida Mae (Hill) Stephens. Mr. Ervin was a self-employed carpenter and also worked for the Sanitation Department as a truck driver in Joliet, Illinois. Carpentry and fixing radios were his favorite hobbies. Among Johnnie's survivors are five sisters, Ella Mae Allen and Bertha L. Paul, both of South Bend, IN, Arie Lee Johnson of Memphis, TN, and Rosie Lee Ervin and Mary Ann Ervin, both of Mississippi; four brothers, Reverend Joseph Watson of Clarksdale, MS, J.C. Robinson of Jackson, MS, and James and Floyd Ervin, both of MS; a favorite nephew, Clyde Treadale Mabry of Madison, WI; and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; along with a special friend, Tina. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Miller; his father, J. D. Ervin; three sisters, Ida Mae Miller, Leola Mae Stone and Georgia Mae Robinson; and two brothers, Robert Lee Haynes and James Stephens. Services for Mr. Ervin will be held at 4:00 p.m., today, December 8, 2013, at Alford's Mortuary, where arrangements have been entrusted.
