Miller, Alice
Alice Miller Nov. 8, 1919 - Apr. 14, 2015 LONGVIEW, TX - Alice Catherine Miller, age 95, of Longview, passed away April 14, 2015. She was born November 8, 1919 in South Bend, Indiana to Amedee and Marie Neland. She was the fourth of five children. On September 7, 1940 she married Carl Hesler and together they had two sons, Jerry and Don. Carl passed away in 1956, and in 1959 Alice married Stan Miller. She lived the majority of her life in South Bend, IN and at 85 years old moved to Lake Cherokee. The community at Lake Cherokee welcomed Alice as family, and she found her second home in Texas. Hard work was Alice's way of life. She was strong-minded, determined, and an indomitable woman. She had a lengthy career at Studebakers and Kaiser Jeep, and continued her hard work though volunteering after retirement. Alice loved to help people in need. Whether by preparing a meal for someone with little free time, listening to a friend in need of support, or by telling one of her jokes, Alice found a way to make many people smile. She was a lifelong, active member of the Catholic Church and most recently a member of St. Anthony's parish. Alice was also very involved in the Church at Lake Cherokee. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, both husbands, her sons, Jerry Hesler and Don Hesler, and granddaughter, Katie Hesler Helms. Alice is survived by her granddaughters, Alyson Espinoza Diaz (husband Adrian) of Bangkok, Thailand and their two children, Gabriel and Lucy, and Sarah Hesler Pemberton (husband Brent) of Fort Worth, TX, and their son, William. She also leaves behind grandson, Marc Hesler and granddaughter, Cara Hesler. Additionally, numerous nieces, nephews and friends say goodbye to Alice Miller and will remember her as the strong resilient woman she proved to be. Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation starting at 4 pm Sunday, April 19, 2015; then the Recitation of the Rosary starting at 5 pm at Rader Funeral Home in Longview. A Mass of Christian Burial will be the next day at 10:30 am, Monday, April 20, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Longview. The family would like to thank the numerous friends at Lake Cherokee who helped care for Alice over the last few years as well as Queen, Annette, Brenda and Brandy.
