Norma Bain July 3, 1932 - Jan. 22, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Norma J. Bain, 81, residing in South Bend, passed away at 1:45 AM Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Signature Health Care, South Bend. Norma was born on July 3, 1932, in Lawrenceville, IN, to the late Wilbur and Birdie Bain. Her family included her sister, Sarah Kroyzaski, her cherished friends at Luvability Ministries, and her friends at Corvilla Care. Words of appreciation are expressed to the Logan Center & to Corvilla Care for their compassionate care of Norma for many years. Memorial services for Norma will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 27, 2015, at the First Brethren Church of South Bend, 4909 S. Ironwood, South Bend, IN 46614. Carrol Darlene Balogh-Wharton Dec. 25, 1922 - Jan. 29, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Carrol Darlene Balogh-Wharton, 92, passed away at 9:15 am Thursday, January 29, 2015 in the Cottage at Cardinal Nursing Home, South Bend. She was born December 25, 1922 in South Bend to the late Robert and Irene (Straub) Green, and has remained a lifelong area resident. Carrol was married to Joseph Balogh, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her sister, Patty Allerton. Carrol is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Jerri) Balogh of Mishawaka and Thomas (Myra Lee) Balogh of Osceola, nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one brother, Robert (Janet) Green of Niles, MI. Carrol was a receptionist for Dr. Walerko for 20 years before retiring. She was a member of Eastern Star and loved garage sales. There will be no public services. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Palmer Funeral Home - River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Baum, Charles  
Charles T. Baum June 8, 1933 - Jan. 2, 2015 MISHAWAKA - Charles Terry Baum, 81, of Mishawaka died at 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 2nd following a lengthy illness. Mr. Baum was born June 8, 1933 in South Bend to the late Virginia E. (Nichols) and Charles W. Baum and was a lifetime area resident. On December 28, 1953 in South Bend he married Gloria Joy Schmaltz who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Robert Baum, Donald Baum, and Judith Moore. He leaves behind his children, Jill Henderson (Scott) and Douglas Baum both of Mishawaka; five grandchildren, Douglas, Matthew, and Mackenzie Baum and Eric Parmley all of Mishawaka and Andrea Parmley of Seattle, WA; two great-grandchildren, Emma and Makenzie both of Mishawaka; and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Charles was a graduate of John Adams High School and served in the U.S. Army's 11th Airborne Division as a paratrooper between 1953 and 1956. With his division he jumped in Panama and Germany. He was stationed in Fort Campbell, KY. Charles retired from AM General of Mishawaka after 25 years and had been a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church and Alleluia Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 21st in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Geraldine Bell Aug. 17, 1930 - Jan. 28, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Geraldine Bell, 84, of South Bend, IN passed away at 6:11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Morning View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on August 17, 1930 in South Bend, IN to the late Lora L. and Adah Mae (McMannama) Overholser. She was united in marriage on January 23, 1979 in Reno, NV to William T. Bell, who preceded her in death on November 15, 2007. Mrs. Bell is survived by three sons, Michael Mantei of South Bend, IN, Kevin (Darlene) Mantei of Sanser, TX and Randy Mantei of South Bend, IN; two grandchildren, Andy Mantei and Jeanine Vaszari; sister, Margery Marks of South Bend, IN and brother, Buddy Overholser of FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Richard Mantei and William T. Bell; brothers, Lora Overholser and Junior Overholser, and one sister, Carole VanDersample. Mrs. Bell was a lifelong resident. She retired from Alcoa where she worked as a secretary. A Private Memorial for the family will be scheduled for Monday, February 9, 2015. Bellinger, Mary Magdalene Talford  
Mary Magdalene Talford Bellinger Nov. 15, 1932 - Jan. 21, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Mary Magdalene Talford Bellinger passed away peacefully on January 21, 2015 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Mary received her early childhood and secondary education in the public schools of Charlotte. She received a Bachelor's degree from Johnson C. Smith University. She moved to Indiana in the mid 60's and received a Master's degree from Indiana University. Mary taught school in the South Bend, Indiana community for 40 years. Left to celebrate her life are her son Luther G. Bellinger, Jr. and his wife Susan; sisters Betty Fisher of Raleigh, and Lillie T. Means of Charlotte. The Funeral service will be Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:00PM at East Stonewall A.M.E. Zion Church. Visitation will be 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Interment at Oaklawn Cemetery. Long & Son Mortuary Service is serving the Bellinger Family.

June S. Blackall June 18, 1928 - Jan. 29, 2015 NILES - June Spindler Blackall, age 86 years of Niles, Michigan died at 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Silverbrook Manor in Niles following a brief illness. She was born on June 18, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Soren Christian and Gudrun Nagnhild (Jesjursen) Sorensen. She was graduated from high school in Chicago, and came to Niles in 1956. She was employed for many years at the former Niles store of the J. C. Penney Corporation. June was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles, and volunteered with the Pawating Auxiliary at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles. She served Howard Township as an elected Trustee from 1984 until 1996, and represented Howard Township on other boards and committees. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and internationally, and pursuing her family's heritage in Denmark. She also enjoyed dancing. On June 8, 1946 in Chicago she married Matthew C. Blackall with whom she celebrated the forty-ninth anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on April 16, 1996. They were also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey R. Blackall who died on October 3, 1981. Surviving family includes her children, Matthew (& Donna) Blackall of Palatine, Illinois, Allen Blackall of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Gary (& Mary Ann) Blackall of Fernandina Beach, Florida, Gail Barrows of Cyprus, Texas, and Scott (& Devon) Blackall of Frederick, Maryland; grandchildren Eric (& Lani) Blackall, Aaron Blackall, Matt Blackall, Nathan Barrows, Ryan (& Brittany) Barrows, Jacob Blackall, and Zachary Blackall; great-grandchildren Anjo, Charlie, Natalie, and Kathryn; and June's sister, Vivian Corbin of Perrysburg, Ohio and brother, Gordon Sorensen of Dallas, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service for June Blackall will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles with the Rev. Wayne Shearier of the church officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Hills. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles. Brown, Jane  
Jane Brown Feb. 21, 1925 - Jan. 24, 2015 MISHAWAKA - Jane Brown of Mishawaka, IN passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2014 at Southfield Village with her daughter at her side. (Elizabeth) Jane Taylor was born on February 21 in South Bend, IN to Eleanor and Clyde Taylor. She lived in the South Bend/ Mishawaka area all of her life. She graduated from South Bend Central High School where she was the Drum Majorette. She was married in 1947. She worked for 36 years at the Travelers Insurance Company. She was a very hard-working and a dedicated employee missing very few days of work during those 38 years of employment. She led the donor blood drive at Travelers for many years. Jane led a very active life. In her younger days she modeled for Wyman's Department Store and Sonneborn's. She enjoyed snow skiing in her younger days and belonged to the St. Joseph Valley Ski Club; she served on the National Ski Patrol at Bendix Woods County Park. She was also a member of Service Guild and the Women's Auxiliary of the Hearing and Speech Center of St. Joseph County. She volunteered much of her time for various community agencies/philanthropic events including the Hearing and Speech Center and St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center Festival of the Trees. Jane enjoyed spending time with her best friend and daughter, Heather, and her ever-faithful grand-dog, Taylor. Prior to residing at Southfield Village, she enjoyed going to aerobics at Battell Center and going to Friday breakfasts with her friends from the class. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Heather L. Brown, her ever-faithful grand-dog, Taylor, a niece and nephews, and a long-time family friend, Bill. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert L. Taylor, and her sister, Ruby Lahey. She was a very loving and supportive mother who will be dearly missed. Her daughter would like to extend a heart-felt thanks to the entire staff at Southfield Village, who provided loving, compassionate care to Jane and supported her daughter with a special thanks to the 200 floor staff. The staff truly was family. She was also treated with skill and compassion by the Hospice staff and by her long-time physician, Dr. Gail English and her staff. Funeral services will be held at the McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Rd., on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 11 AM, with Chaplain Deborah Hewitt officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral from 10-11 AM. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Valley Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to Center for Hospice Care and/or Pet Refuge. Patricia Burlngame Nov. 9, 1938 - Jan. 24, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Patricia A. Burlingame, formerly Patricia A. Park, passed away peacefully at her home in South Bend, IN, at 8:20 AM Saturday, January 24, 2015. Patricia was born on November 9, 1938, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late John and Isabel (Don) Park. Pat grew up in Waukegan, IL, where she attended Waukegan Township High School, Class of 1956. While attending college, she majored in Addictions Counseling. Pat worked as a M.R.O. Purchasing Agent and as an Addictions Counselor in the inner cities of Chicago, IL, Torrington, CT, and South Bend, IN. Pat was a friend of Bill W's for the past 33 years, where she was actively involved in service work. She was a faithful member of South Side Baptist Church, South Bend, where she enjoyed serving in many areas of ministry. She loved reading, listening to books on tape, watching movies, line dancing, traveling, cooking and "Pizza Night at Five." The joy of her life was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, and friends. Pat was an extremely loving and giving person. She was an incredible mother and grandmother who had the knack of making anyone she was with feel special. Everyone who knew Pat loved her and had a good relationship with her. She was a mother, teacher, counselor and friend. The void she leaves is huge and she will be greatly missed. On November 13, 1982, in Wildwood, IL, she was united in marriage to Thomas Mac Burlingame, who preceded her in death on April 20, 2009. Also preceding in death were her father, John Park; mother, Isabel Park-Bastian; and brother, Bob Park. Pat is survived by her daughters, Laura (Tim) McGann of South Bend, Cindy L. Wehrly of Kenosha, WI, Roberta (Greg) Speth of Bristol, WI; son, Bobby (Kelly) Wehrly of Mt. Pleasant, WI; grandchildren, Kelly Boss (Mike) Martin, Mandy (James) Sakiewicz, Doug (Brittany) O'Keefe, Tim O'Keefe, Patti O'Keefe, Megan (Tyler) Campbell, Curt (Kelsi) McGann, Brittany Wehrly, Haley Meeker; great-grandchildren, Talulah, Stella, Greta, Aly, Ava, Gideon, Kiyo, Oliver and Olivia. Funeral services for Pat will be 10:30 AM Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, IN 46615, with graveside services following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
