William Warrick Mar. 22, 1919 - Aug. 22, 2015 OGDEN DUNES - William Anthony "Bill" Warrick, our blessed father, age 96, of Ogden Dunes passed away Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 in Michigan City. He was born on March 22nd, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN to Ethelbert and Minnie Mae (Davis) Warrick who preceded him in death. Bill is also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Wilma (Franklin) Warrick in 2014. Bill is survived by his daughters, Suzanne (Paul) Ward of Bedford, KY & Mindy (Ted) Cudney of Michigan City; grandchildren, Christopher (Tara) Cudney of Orlando, FL, Cassandra Cudney of Michigan City and Steven (Marissa Williams) Ward of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Vincent Lestage, Conner Cudney, Ethan Cudney, and Tevin Gregory Cudney; & sisters-in-law, Phyllis Warrick of Elkhart, Dianne Warrick of Menomonee Falls, WI, Waneta Franklin of Elkhart, and Glendora Franklin of Beaverton, OR. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Wilma, his brother, James Warrick & brothers-in-law, Robert Franklin & Devon Franklin. Bill was a 1944 graduate of Purdue University and loved working as a Newsman. He claimed "I never 'worked' a day in my life". Bill retired after a prestigious career that spanned five decades. He worked on the air and in print for WJOB Radio, WMAQ Radio, NBC TV Channel 5 News in Chicago, and finally for WSBT TV in South Bend, IN. Bill was an avid rail fan and train enthusiast, making numerous documentaries and historical films on the topic. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 27th, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Ogden Dunes Community Church, 116 Hillcrest Rd., Ogden Dunes, IN 46368 with Rev. Dr. Sewdin officiating. Private burial will follow at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, IN. Visitation will take place Thursday from 9:00 am until the time of services at 10:00 am at the church. Wenger, Dorothy Mae  
Dorothy Mae Wenger Mar. 7, 1924 - Aug. 27, 2015 WAKARUSA - Dorothy Mae Wenger, 91, died at 7 p.m. August 27, at Miller's Assisted Living, Wakarusa. She was born to Grover and Mabel (Shearer) Schalliol on March 7, 1924. She married Robert LaMar Wenger on February 22, 1945. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in February 2015. She was a graduate of Madison High School in 1942. She was a housewife and mother except for a short time when she worked for Space Age, Kelly's Kitchens and Dwyer Insturments. She is survived by her husband, Robert, daughter, Becky (Randy) Yeiter of Carmel, son, Bruce (Sherry)Yoder of Wakarusa, daughter, Nancy (Tom) VanTilburg of Jeffersonville, daughter, Barbara (Steve) Stump of Wakarusa, a daughter-in-law, Mardelle (Hostetler) Wenger of Fort Wayne, sister, Norma Maurer of Elkhart and a niece. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Robin Wenger and Randi Gonzales of Fort Wayne, Matt (Susan) Yeiter, Mark (Debbie) Yeiter and Tina (Ryan) Clepper, all of Indianapolis, Daniel (Janel) Yeiter of Avon, Rachel Wenger of Wakarusa, Nic VanTilburg of Jeffersonville, Peter (Jessica) VanTilburg of Louisville, Kentucky, Sam (Kara) Stump of Wakarusa, Libby (Matt) Abberger of Statesville, NC and Joanna (Alex) Williams of Greenville, SC. She has 22 great-grandchildren with one due on 9/15. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Brian and twin-great-grandsons, Adrian Drew and Trevor James Stump. Dorothy loved to quilt, sold many wall hangings and quilts and enjoyed quilting at Miller's Assisted Living. She was the church librarian, was AWANA secretary at Bible Baptist Church for many years, was a longtime nursery Sunday School teacher and also helped with funeral dinners. She loved to garden, can and freeze her produce and loved flower gardening, especially African Violets. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service on Saturday, September 5, 2015 all at Bible Baptist Church, 205 E. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor David Harper of the Bible Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Olive (West) Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Bible Baptist Church or the Center for Hospice Care. Whetham, Lillian  
Lillian Whetham Dec. 12, 1922 - Aug. 24, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Lillian Whetham, 92, passed away at South Bend Memorial Hospital Monday morning after a brief illness. She married Floyd Whetham on June 4, 1940; they were together over 55 years and raised a wonderful family together. Lillian was an avid bowler, she was also a hairdresser and a serious Cubs fan. She was very proud that she still bowled and still was a practicing hairdresser. Lillian is survived by a son, Keith (Betty) Whetham-Granger; daughters, Jan (Larry) Hill-Elkhart and Joyce (Paul) Becker-South Bend. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Dolores Woods and Barbara (Robert) TaTay. Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two great-grandchildren, Karyn Douglas Delio, Andrew Keith Whetham, and two brothers, Ralph Havranek and Douglas Demmon. The family would like to extend a special "THANKS" to Dr. Dean Park, Dr. Douglas Doctor and the Wel-lbrooke staff for their exceptional care they provided for Lillian. Whipkey, Margaret  
Margaret W. Whipkey Nov. 13, 1921 - Aug. 30, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Margaret was born in Elkhart, IN to Hermann and Margarthe Wagner. Margaret married William T. Whipkey on November 14, 1953 at Zion United Church of Christ in South Bend. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 half-sisters, 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her sister, Helen Bentzen, her husband William, 4 children, Thomas, James, Anna, and Jerome, 4 grandchildren, Beth, Erik, Fredrick, and Katerina, 3 great-grandchildren, Nova, Wren, and Elisha, and many nieces, nephews, and their children. Margaret was employed at Bendix for 15 years in accounting, 15 years at home raising her children, and 13 years as a receptionist for Dr. Bell, retiring in 1984. Margaret was a lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ. Her service there includes Sunday school teacher, Women's Guild/Sisters of Faith and the Missions Ministry. She served on the Literacy Council teaching English speaking and ESL students. She served as a counselor for the Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program. Margaret was well known for her Christmas cookies, especially Springerle, her Stollen, and her German potato salad. Her cooking legacy lives on through her 32 recipes in the Zion UCC Sisters of Faith cook book. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 4, 2015 at 10 am at Zion United Church of Christ, 211 S. St. Peter St., South Bend, IN followed by the internment of her ashes in Zion's cemetery. The celebration of Margaret's life will continue with a light meal at the church. White, Mable  
Mable White July 10, 1944 - Aug. 19, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Born Mable C. Carter on July 10, 1944 in Duncan, Mississippi, Mable White departed this life on Wednesday, August 19 at Cardinal Nursing & Rehab Center in South Bend, Indiana. She was 71 years old. Following the death of her parents, Wallace and Montella (Brown) Carter, Mable relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she was raised by her Great Aunt, Clara Willis and attended Parker High School. It was in Chicago that she met and married Richard Thurman and to that union four children, Darryl, Earline, Charles and Irene Thurman were born. Mable relocated to South Bend in 1965 where she joined Greater St. John M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Bernard White and was employed with Honeywell Aerospace Corp from which she retired. Mable and Isaac White were united in marriage in 1979 and remained at each other's side until her death on Wednesday. In addition to her parents, Mable was preceded in death by her four children, Darryl, Earline, Charles and Irene, four brothers and three sisters along with her great aunt, Clara Willis. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of thirty-five years, Isaac White, a sister, Clara (Zack) Cotton of South Bend, 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren along with many other relatives and friends. The funeral service for Mrs. White is 12:00 noon Thursday at River of Life Church with visitation one hour before the service at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Barbara M. Wilcox Aug. 2, 1935 - Aug. 29, 2015 NEW CARLISLE - Barbara M. Wilcox, 80, of New Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle. She was born on August 2, 1935, in South Bend, to the late Howard Sr. and Florence (Spears) Belledin. On October 6, 1953, she married Clinton E. Wilcox, who preceded her in death in 2004. Barbara is survived by her three sons, Stephen E. (Debra) Wilcox of New Carlisle, Bruce L. (Pam) Wilcox of Michigan City, IN, and David D. (Christine) Wilcox of South Bend; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Shirley Flock of South Bend; and by three brothers, Howard (Betty) Belledin of MI, Roger (Pam) Belledin of Dover, OH, and Robert (Cynthia) Belledin of MO. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Green, and a grandson, Stephen Wilcox. She was a part of Prison Fellowship and was a member of Christ Chapel Church, South Bend. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Monday, August 31, 2015, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert St., New Carlisle. Carl D. Wilcox June 20, 1933 - Aug. 23, 2015 CHILLICOTHE, OH - Carl D. Wilcox, 82, of Chillicothe, died 10:04 a.m. Sunday, August 23, 2015 in the Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born June 20, 1933, in Bourneville, Ohio, to the late Walter and Edna Wilt Wilcox. On November 5, 1954, he married the former Norma Jean Ipe who died July 20, 1988. Surviving are sons, Daniel J. Wilcox of Chillicothe and Stephen A. Wilcox of South Bend, IN; and companion and friend, Joan D. Hess of Chillicothe. He was predeceased by sisters, Ruth Cuckler and Peggy Riehle and a brother, Gene Wilcox. Carl was a retired captain of the Mishawaka Fire Department in Indiana. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post 108, American Legion Post 62 and AMVETS. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME, Chillicothe, Ohio with Pastor Marlin Kellough officiating. Vince L. Wilken Sept. 1, 1952 - Aug. 25, 2015 EDWARDSBURG - Vince Lynn Wilken, age 62 years, of Edwardsburg, Michigan, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015, at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Indiana. He was born September 1, 1952, in Mishawaka, to Almond and Beulah (Fryatt) Wilken. Vince had the biggest heart and was extremely loyal, always helping those he loved and those in need. He was not only giving, he was a free spirit with his own sense of humor, easily brightening everyone's day with jokes and a smile. He was known by all for his love of music and dancing, and shared it generously with those around him. Surviving family includes his children, Jeremy Wilken of Niles, Michigan, Brooke Wilken (& Joshua J. Diliberto) of Yucipa, California, Danyelle (& Rocky) Rose of South Bend, and Deanna Wilken of Los Angeles, California; two grandchildren, Ava Rose and Karuna Diliberto; and his siblings, Kim Wilken of South Bend, Indiana, Iden Wilken of Elkhart, Indiana, and Cheryl Lowery of Buchanan, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Almond and Beulah, and siblings, Roger, Myrna and Diane.
