Grall, Robert  
Robert Grall Jan. 7, 1935 - Apr. 26, 2016 SOUTH BEND - Robert L. Grall, 81, of South Bend and formerly of Mishawaka, passed away Tuesday morning, April 26, 2016 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Bob was born January 7, 1935 in Mishawaka, a son of John and Ruth (Quick) Grall. He was a 1953 graduate of Mishawaka High School. Bob married Darlene J. Biltz on June 18, 1955 and they made Mishawaka their home. Bob was employed with Torrington Company in South Bend for 28 years. He later worked at Bearing Repair Specialists in South Bend as well as Timken in South Bend. Bob was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Mishawaka. He particularly enjoyed fishing and antique cars and was a member of the Michiana Walleye Association and the Pioneer Old Car Club. Bob's surviving family includes his three children, Douglas Grall, Kathleen Strycker and Sandra (Scott) Hughes; eight grandchildren, Tim Grall, Tom (Becky) Grall, Michelle (Robert) Case, Bob (Cira) Strycker, Sarah (Kevin) Potts, Jocelyn Hughes, Madelyn Hughes and Parker Hughes; thirteen great grandchildren, Hayley, Nadine, Katie, Nicholas, Emily, Noah, Wesley, Katelyn, Evan, Cameron, Dominick, Avery and Carson; his mother-in-law, Margery Biltz; and a sisters-in-law, Irene Stahly, Judith (Ron) Yutzy and Nancy (Glenn) Layman; and a brother-in-law, Richard Biltz. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene; his parents, John and Ruth Grall; two brothers, John and Jack Grall; two sisters, Phyllis Sovis and Jean Colwell; and father-in-law, Kenneth Biltz. Services honoring Bob's life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Brian Borger officiating. Burial will follow at Bremen Cemetery. Friends may spend time with Bob's family from 6 - 8 pm Friday and 9:30 - 10:30 am Saturday in the funeral home. Himes, Judy Lee  
Judy Lee Himes Jan. 8, 1935 - Apr. 24, 2016 MISHAWAKA - Judy Lee Himes, 81, of Mishawaka, IN passed away at 11:03 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Hospice House, South Bend, IN. She was born on January 8, 1935 in Marion, IN to the late Jack Rounds and Wilma (McPherson) Rounds. On September 8, 1962 in Lakeville, IN she was united in marriage to Levi Himes who preceded her in death on December 6, 1985. Mrs. Himes is survived by her daughter, Debra (Richard) Annis of Mishawaka, IN; three grandchildren, April (Robert) de Haan of Bartlett, IL, Stephanie (Matt) Ward of Bay City, MI and Matthew (Stephanie) Smith of Granger, IN; six great-grandchildren, Oliver and Gertrude de Haan, Sean and Lilly Ward and Zoey and Westin Smith and cousin, Larry (Faye) Draper of NC. Mrs. Himes moved to South Bend in 1942 and was a graduate of Riley High School. She worked as a nurse's aide at Memorial Hospital, and formerly was employed as a cashier at Ernie's Supermarket. She enjoyed bowling at Parkway Lanes, fishing and watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. Mrs. Himes was a Frank Sinatra fan and enjoyed drinking her Coca Cola and watching Dr. Quinn on T.V. She was a member of the former Milburn Boulevard Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Linda K. Himes July 17, 1947 - Apr. 20, 2016 ELKHART - Linda Kay Himes, 68 years old, of Elkhart, and formerly of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest on April 20, 2016, at Woodland Manor of Elkhart after an illness. She was born July 17, 1947, in Mishawaka, the daughter of Levi C. Jr. and Alberta I. (VanDusen) Himes, and had lived in the Michiana area all of her life, except for five years in Phoenix. She had done factory work at Georgia Boy of Edwardsburg, Robinson Wood Products of Edwardsburg and lastly at Ascot Enterprises of Elkhart. She was a diligent and hard worker. She loved her life and especially her children and grandchildren. In 2007, she lost her ‘life partner' George Nelson. Her family who survives are her sons, Johnny Linn (Gail) Hart of Tecumseh, MI, and Tim Scott (Kathleen) Hart of Elkhart. There are nine grandchildren: Alisa Hart, John Charles Hart, Amber (Frank) McDougalle, Autumn (Justin) Marlow, Michael (Heather) Hart, Ian Gibson, Eliza Gibson, Richard Hart and Mindy Hart. There are 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Nancy J. (Larry) Williams of Elkhart and Barbara A. Himes of Kalamazoo. Family who have passed are her parents, her ‘life partner,' George Nelson, and a great-grandchild, J.C. McDougalle. Family and friends may gather on Sunday, May 1, 2016, from 1-2 PM at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main St., Edwardsburg. The Memorial Service will begin at 2:00 PM, with Mr. Lloyd Montgomery of Cassopolis officiating. Cremation has taken place and, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Edwardsburg American Legion Post 365, P.O. Box 47, Edwardsburg, MI 49112-0047. Arrangements are by the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.

Adeline Holvoet May 8, 1926 - Apr. 20, 2016 SOUTH BEND - Adeline C. Holvoet, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 (on her husband George's Birthday), at Hospice House. Adeline was born May 8, 1926, to the late Stanley and Lottie (Nowaczyk) Piechorowski. On August 9, 1947, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Adeline married her loving husband, George O. Holvoet, who preceded her in death on October 14, 2004. Adeline was also preceded in death by a brother, Bert; and sisters, Mary and Dorothy. Survivors of Adeline include her children, George M. (Theresa Jojo) Holvoet of South Bend, Gary (Jill Patterson) Holvoet of St. Petersburg, FL, Christopher S. Holvoet of South Bend, and Lonnie (Laszlo) Holvoet-Lukacz of Oceanside, CA; grandchildren, Miles, Evan, Jarod and Anna Holvoet; God Daughter, Cheryl (Dan) Kovas; niece and nephew, Donna (John) Freidline and Donald Sopczynski; great-nieces and nephews, Christian, Sarah and David; close family friends, Leann (Larry) and Layla Jojo; and childhood friend, Ludvina Pietraszewski. Adeline was a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. She worked in the Domestics Department at LS Ayres for 10 years. Adeline was a spiritual person, who prayed the Rosary daily. She was a die-hard Chicago Cub fan and avid Notre Dame and Purdue fan. Adeline enjoyed knitting, crocheting and sewing. She enjoyed going to the Casino, and playing Poker with her family. Adeline also loved being outdoors, particularly by the water. Visitation for Adeline is 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, April 25, 2016, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Tuesday, April 26, 2016, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Howe, Dianne K.  
Dianne K. Howe Aug. 20, 1947 - Apr. 27, 2016 PLYMOUTH - Dianne K. Howe, 68, a lifetime Marshall County resident, passed away at 7:55 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, in Pilgrim Manor following an illness since last October. Dianne was born on August 20, 1947, in Plymouth, Indiana, to Wayne Grossman Jr. and Betty J. (Compton) Grossman. She graduated from West High School in 1965. In a chance summer encounter at the Ft. Wayne Azar's Restaurant, Dianne met Robin F. Howe, and the two were married later that year in Donaldson, Indiana, on December 16, 1967. The couple would get to cherish 49 years by each other's side. Dianne worked her entire career in food service. She would work at Schori's Restaurant and then the Chuck Wagon in downtown Plymouth operated by the Grossman family. She attained a dietary certificate at Ivy Tech College in Warsaw and worked as a food service supervisor with the Plymouth School Corporation, and then the Shady Rest Home which is now the Bowen Center. Family was the center of her life and treasured family gatherings, Sunday get-togethers being a favorite. Dianne and Robin enjoyed visits to casinos in varying locations. She liked to play BINGO, and loved joining in social gaming with friends and family. She is survived by her loving husband, Robin, and their children: David E. Howe and Emily D. Howe, all of Plymouth. Three grandchildren, Samantha Arvesen of Mishawaka, Damon Howe of Findlay, OH, and Issabella Contreras of Plymouth, and two great-grandchildren, Caidence Howe and Ellery Arvesen, both of Mishawaka, also survive. Two brothers, Phil (Dawn) Grossman of Argos and Mark Grossman of Coleman, FL, survive along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Thomas and Steven. Visitation will be held from 2 - 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Bob Rice officiating. Dennis Janiszewski June 3, 1948 - Apr. 22, 2016 SOUTH BEND - Dennis Michael Janiszewski, 67, passed away Friday, April 22, 2016, in his home. Dennis was born June 3, 1948, in South Bend, to the late Gordon and Irene (Kasznia) Janiszewski. On June 22, 1968, in Holy Family Catholic Church, Dennis married his loving wife of 47 years, Marge (Kohler) Janiszewski, who survives along with their children, Deenee (Scott) Searfoss and Nicole Janiszewski, both of South Bend; grandchildren, Holly Searfoss, Nicholas Searfoss, LCPL Blake Palicki, Jenna Kubiak, Tristan Kubiak and Grant Searfoss; great-grandsons, Roman Searfoss and Vincent Feitz; mother-in-law, Zelda Wildenauer; sister, Anita (Ronald) Schroeder; and brother, Eugene Janiszewsk; sister-in-law, Linda (Ronald) VanTornhout; & brother-in-law, Robert Kohler; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dennis was a graduate of Washington High School. He honorably served in the U.S. Army Reserves. Dennis retired in 2010 from AT&T as a materials handler after 22 years, and he was previously Co-Owner of the Fire Rock Cafe. Dennis was member of the Crumstown Conservation Club, NRA, and Bass Club. He enjoyed cutting the lawn, playing cards, fishing, golfing, and going for rides in his Corvette. Dennis was tech savvy and a handyman. He was an avid fan of Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs. Dennis adored his dog, Lillee. Visitation for Dennis is from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Funeral Service to be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 27, 2016, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Manuel H. Jennings Oct. 12, 1919 - Apr. 22, 2016 SOUTH BEND - Our beautiful beloved hero, Manuel H. Jennings entered into eternal rest April 23, 2016 at 1:30 a.m. Manuel was born October 12, 1919 in Shreveport, LA, and upon his arrival in South Bend he met the love of his life, Ms. Lucille Murray. They were united in holy matrimony for 43 years. Mr. Manuel was a quiet, soft spoken man with beautiful diction whose voice commanded your attention. He was always neatly dressed and often went by the name Sporty-O. He was a hard working man with a strong work ethic as demonstrated by the fact that he walked to Zikers Cleaners every day for 52 years, only missing ten days of work. “Let the church say Amen.” On April 21st around 5:00 p.m., he received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. The bible teaches us that “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”, so we take comfort knowing we will see our loved one again. Manuel leaves to cherish his memory his loving devoted daughter, Vera V. Humphrey, ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren, two nephews, two nieces and a host of friends. Those preceding him in death were his parents, Lewis & Camille Jennings, his wife, Lucille Jennings, one son, Douglas, whom he raised from an infant, one daughter, Hazel George, who was raised in California and one sister, Delilah Shandell. Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Alford's Mortuary. Viewing will occur from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Alford's Mortuary.
