Jane Ann Burckhardt

MISHAWAKA - Jane Ann Burckhardt, age 60, of Mishawaka, Indiana, died on October 25, 2013, at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, after a prolonged illness. She was born in Glen Cove, New York, and raised in Greenlawn, Long Island, New York. Graduating from Harborfields High School in Greenlawn in 1971, she attended Indiana University and graduated in 1975. After college graduation she moved to the South Bend-Mishawaka area and worked for a number of different companies throughout her adult life. Her sister, Susan M. Riley, and brother-in-law, Benjamin Riley of Crownsville, Maryland, two nephews and niece, and a total of seven grand nieces and nephews, survive her. She was a strong supporter of her high school class and served as a major force in connecting classmates and other Harborfield High School alumni. She very much enjoyed genealogy, reading, tending flowers and bird watching. There will be a private burial. In lieu of flowers or other mementos, the family requests donations be made to a local hospice.
