SOUTH BEND - Rita A. Huber, 87, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011. Rita was born April 21, 1924 in South Bend, Indiana to Sylvester and Angela (Chudzicki) Nowacki. On September 14, 1946, Rita married Joseph Huber who preceded her in death on May 5, 2001. Surviving are her children, Connie (Thomas) Underly of South Bend, Joseph (Jan) Huber of Greenwood, Indiana; grandchildren, Kacy (Greg) Trobridge of Granger, Indiana, Jennifer Huber of New Orleans, Louisiana, Matthew (Molly) Underly of Colorado; great grandchildren, Griffin Trobridge, Colin Underly, Mara Underly; a sister, Selma (Hillary) Staszewski of South Bend, Indiana; and a brother, Edward (June) Nowacki of South Bend, Indiana. A brother, Irvin Nowacki, preceded her in death. She retired from Sears and Roebuck Company at the University Park Mall in the Catalog Department in May of 1992 after 24 years of service. Rita was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and Harvest House; the Golden Cluster of St. Hedwig Church, the St. Casimir Harvest House, R.S.V.P. Volunteer, the Leighton Center, and the St. Joseph Medical Center Auxiliary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2011, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the Mass. Entombment will follow in Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church. To send condolences online, please visit www.kaniewsk i.com

Connie and family, I am sorry to hear of Rita's passing. I worked with her at Sears catalog when it was still on Lafayette. She was a wonderful woman and I feel very lucky to have known her.
