SOUTH BEND - Barbara J. Preiner, 84, of South Bend, passed away at 12:25 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2011, at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend. She was born on December 5, 1926, in Devon, TX, to the late Frank and Beatrice (Timmon) Padgett, and had been a life-long resident of this area. Barbara faithfully served her country in the United States Marine Corps. She worked as a Force Adjustment Supervisor for Indiana Bell for over 27 years, retiring in 1980. She also enjoyed being a part of the Michiana Tidal Waves, Telephone Pioneers of America, the American Legion Post #50, and serving as a volunteer "Representative" for the Military Honor Park at the South Bend Airport. Friends of Barbara would like to express their appreciation to the Staff at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross for their wonderful and compassionate care. Burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
