Barbara A. Needham

SOUTH BEND - Barbara A. (Clements) Needham passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2013, after a brief illness. Barbara was born June 8, 1934, in Livingston County, Michigan, to the late Gail H. and Helen G. Clements, and resided in the South Bend area since 1959, coming from East Lansing, Michigan. Barbara graduated from Michigan State University in 1956 and later earned her master's degree from Indiana University. On Aug. 11, 1956, at the MSU Alumni Memorial Chapel, she married James M. Needham, who preceded her in death July 10, 2011. She was a teacher for 20 years for the South Bend Community School Corporation, School City of Mishawaka, and several schools in Michigan. She was also a librarian for the South Bend Community School Corporation and Holy Cross College, from which she retired in 2000. Barbara is survived by her three children: Tamara (Jeff) Libersky of Plymouth, IN, James Andrew (Antonette) Needham and Ellen Needham Imbur of South Bend. She leaves four grandchildren: Matthew Libersky, Emma Libersky, Christopher Needham and Jack Imbur. She is also survived by three brothers: Robert Clements of Wooster, OH, Wil (Eunice) Clements of Bozeman, MT, and Charles (Lucy) Clements of Melbourne, FL. Her sister, Ruth Moore, and sister-in-law, Pat Clements, preceded her in death. In accordance with Barbara's wishes, there will be no visitation. Private services will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery in Howell, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the , the or to a .
