Carol (Whittaker) Bennett

MISHAWAKA - Carol (Whittaker) Bennett, 80, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away in residence on October 30, 2013. Carol was born on July 14, 1933 in Mishawaka to Ernest and Ruth (Cline) Whittaker. On May 2, 1980, Carol married James Bennett. James preceded her in death on April 27, 2002. Carol was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Martin and two sisters, Barbara Staley and Betty Batterbee. Carol is survived by two daughters, Diana (Richard) Regulinski and Nancy (James) Thrasher, all of South Bend, IN, a daughter-in-law, Connie Martin of South Bend, two sisters, Virginia Whybrew of Texas and Marjorie (John) Ward of California, six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, along with several nieces and nephews. Carol was a member of U.A.W. Local #5; she previously worked at Singer Corporation, Ball Band Manufacturing. Carol retired from AM General in 1988 after 15 years of service. Carol was active with Northside Little League being the Manager of the concession stand for numerous years. Carol was also a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.; she was an avid bingo player at the FOP and would take charter bus trips to the local casinos throughout the surrounding area. Family and friends may call on Sunday, November 3, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where funeral services will also take place at 5:00pm with Pastor Jeff Truex officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka at a later date.
