ELKHART - Edward Leo Ginter, 92, of Elkhart, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, at 11:00 a.m. at Hubbard Hill Estates. He was born October 26, 1920, in South Bend, Indiana, to Frank and Frances Ginter. On September 6, 1947, he married Genevieve Thulis, who preceded him in death on January 15th, 1972. He then married Helen Mishler on November 25th, 1978. She preceded him in death on May 30th, 1998. Edward is survived by his lifetime friend and companion, Vera Kozak; children, James Ginter, Michael Ginter, Mary Elizabeth (Mark) Riley, Suzanne Hamilton, Christine Fischer, Virginia (Don) Berger, Jennifer Ginter (Don Albrecht), and Stephanie Parfitt. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ashley Berger, Shelby Berger, Katie Riley, Genevieve Riley, Stephanie (Jim) Rodino, Pam (Brian) Burris, Tim Ginter, Elizabeth Ginter, Sarah Ginter, William Hamilton, David Hamilton, Emily (Jim) Pettit, Eric (Skye) Berger & Amanda Parfitt; and eleven great-grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances; brothers, Louis, Walter, Joe, George, and Leo; and his sisters, Esther Dollie, Edna Hyzy, and Stella Kluska. Edward was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church. He loved to travel and vacation with Vera. He also loved to go out to dinner and have a cocktail with Vera, and enjoyed watching plays and sunsets on the beach. Visitation for Edward will be from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 on Sunday, February 24, at the Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. The service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, where Fr. Bill Sullivan will officiate the service and burial will follow at Rice Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Shelter.
