SOUTH BEND - Ervin A. Kominkiewicz, 87, formerly of South Bend, passed away on November 4, 2012, at Coventry Meadows in Ft. Wayne, IN. He was born on March 10, 1925, to Roman and Mary (Andrzejewski) Kominkiewicz in South Bend, IN. Ervin worked as a Receiving Clerk for A.M. General. On August 20, 1949, he married Helen Kowal in LaPorte, IN, who preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Joseph Young Men's Society. He loved to play Euchre and take trips with the club. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame and Purdue football. He was a member of American Legion Post 357. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Ervin was a member of the UAW Local 5 retiree club where he was active in their social activities. He enjoyed playing golf with his son. He passed his love of Euchre onto his daughter. Ervin was a family man who was always there when they needed him. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He was also preceded by a special friend, Ethel Pishnoff. He was a family man whose life was devoted to his wife and children. Ervin is survived by his son, Kevin (Lois LaVelle) of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Nancy (Robert Rigby Jr.) Kominkiewicz of Beverly, MA; and two sisters, Barbara Jagla and Rita Marnocha, both of South Bend, IN. He was preceded in death by father, Roman Kominkiewicz; mother, Mary Kominkiewicz; daughter, Mary Kominkiewicz; and sisters, Gert Zima, Henrietta Karmolinski and Virginia Robinson. Visitation was held Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at St. Joseph Funeral Home, South Bend, Indiana. A rosary was prayed at 7:30 pm Wednesday. Visitation will also be held today starting at 9:00 am at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 am in Holy Family Catholic Church.
