GRANGER - Rosetta Ferraro (Forte), 80, of Granger, IN, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 in Mishawaka, IN of natural causes.



Rosetta was born on March 29, 1937 in Mishawaka, IN. She married Rocky Ferraro on June 1, 1957. The couple had three children and lived in Mishawaka throughout their 47 year marriage.



Rosetta was, by all accounts, a caring, giving, funny, and kind person who consistently put the needs of others before her own. She and Rocky dedicated their lives to their family and close friends. Their daughter Mary Ann was in services at Logan Center for decades, where Rosetta and Rocky became very involved and volunteered much of their time. They formed lifelong friendships with other parents and staff members from the Logan Center and were officially recognized and honored by the agency for their involvement.



Rosetta's children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins remember her and Rocky's house as being the central location for countless summer parties and family reunions. Rosetta was a phenomenal cook who mastered her family's Italian dishes that were the centerpiece of every family gathering. Rosetta's door was always open for anyone to drop by, where they would be greeted with a hug, a smile, and offered some of her homemade pies, cakes, or cookies that were always freshly baked and delicious.



Rosetta was a strong woman who, in the face of struggle and loss, always persevered. She was able to stay future-oriented and optimistic by focusing on her faith, friends, family, and caring for her pets. Rosetta loved animals and had pets nearly her entire life. She had an appreciation for all animals, whether they were the cats and dogs that lived in her house or the squirrels and birds that came to her door that she talked to and fed. Rosetta will be remembered for her warmth, kind heart, sense of humor, selflessness, and dedication to family.



Rosetta is survived by her daughter, Julie Petersen; son, Chris Ferraro (Gina); and grandchildren, Jamie Petersen, Erin Petersen, Brian Petersen, and Luca Ferraro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rocky; daughter, Mary Ann; and parents, John and Marie Forte.



Visitation is scheduled for 3 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24 at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, with a Rosary Service being held at 7:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 West Mishawaka Avenue, Mishawaka; friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Logan Center.
