Herbert Hajicek

BOURBON - Herbert Hajicek, 82, of 402 E. Sunset Dr., Bourbon, IN passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 9:45 AM in Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home of Culver. Herbert was born the son of James and Viola Hennagarden Hajicek on April 27, 1929 at Kewanee, IL. He was a resident of Bourbon the past several years. He was a graduate of Argos High School and furthered his education at the University of Notre Dame. He is survived by his four children: Stephen and wife Debra Hajicek of Elkhart, James Hajicek of Chicago, IL, William and wife Marisa Hajicek of South Bend and Donald Hajicek of Fort Collins, CO. Also surviving are his eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cinthia; three sisters, Helen, Dorothy and Bernice and his brother John. Herb was a retired teacher who taught Latin. Herb was also a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War from 1950-1952 during which he received the Purple Heart for injuries he suffered during that conflict. He also was a member of Community Poor Hand Maids of the Most Holy Trinity of South Bend. Graveside Funeral Services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 14th in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Father Edward Ruetz officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, Indiana.
