Evelyn P. Pinter Nov. 4, 1916 - March 25, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Evelyn P. Pinter passed away at the age of 97 on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Evelyn was born to the late Frank and Stanislawa Staszewski on November 4, 1916. She was employed with the University of Notre Dame for 17 years. In 1938, she married Stanley Grochowalski, who passed away on January 15, 1966. Together they had a son, William F. Grochowalski, who passed away in 1967. On December 19, 1970, Evelyn married Stephen J. Pinter Jr., who later died on January 2, 1986. Evelyn, also known as "Busia" to her family, is survived by her daughter-in-law, Judy Phillips; two grandchildren, Jim (Jill) Grochowalski and Jennifer (Roland) Jaggers; and six great-grandchildren, Kayla, Lindsey, and Ryan Grochowalski, and Victoria, Rebecca and Isabella Jaggers. Brothers Alex, Stanley, Casey and Joe Staszewski, all preceded her in death. Visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Evelyn was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church and the St. Stanislaus Rosary Society. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Evelyn's family would like to thank Signature Nursing Home and the Center for Hospice Care for their outstanding care and support.
