SOUTH BEND - Markest Flowers passed away on Tuesday, May 31. He was 27 years old. Markest was born November 5, 1988, in South Bend, to Jada Roberson and Jack Flowers, and had been a South Bend resident for the greater part of his life.

He attended New Generation Christian Ministry and liked to read the Bible. And like most young men, he enjoyed listening to music and playing video games.

He was preceded in death by his infant sister, Bessina Roberson; great-grandparents, George and Bessie Chester, Travis Roberson and Frances Greer; cousin, Preston Flowers; and godfather, Gerald Carter.

Markest is survived by his parents, Jack Flowers of South Bend and Jada (David) Davis of Sacramento, CA; sons, Markest Flowers, Jr. and Elijah Smith of South Bend; a sister, Jada (Jamal) Griffin; and brothers, Jeron Hamilton of South Bend, Ahnton Flowers of Memphis, TN, also survive him along with grandparents, Jonnie Roberson of South Bend and Robert Roberson of Broadview, IL.

Others who survive him are aunts, Felicia Roberson of South Bend, Monique McGlown of Fort Wayne, IN; uncles, Marco (Yuki) Roberson of San Diego, CA, Robert (Karen) Roberson of Green Valley, AZ; nephews, Jayveion, Jamari, JaShawn, Jamal, Jr. and Jaremih Griffin, all of South Bend; and “special cousins” LaShele Irons, Kirkland Stewart, Javony Sailes; and mother of his sons, Terra Barnes, all of South Bend; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other family & friends.

The funeral service is 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at New Generation Christian Ministry, 431 Summit Dr., with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
