LA PORTE - Clarence E. O'Connell, 97, of Bristol, Indiana, passed away at 4:45 pm on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at his home. He was born March 20, 1916, in Union Mills, Indiana, to Charles and Mary (Cox) O'Connell, and lived in the Bristol area for the last ten years. He was a factory worker at Allis Chalmers for 37 years. On June 8, 1940, in Rolling Prairie, Indiana, he married Barbara Driscoll, who preceded him on April 21, 2012. He was a member of United Methodist Church in La Porte, attended Rolling Prairie High School and was a member of the Do-Si-Doers Square Dance Club. He loved wood-working, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during The Depression. Clarence leaves behind two sons, John (Thelma) O'Connell, Clarksville, TN, and Michael (Carla) O'Connell of Bristol, Indiana; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Diane Inacio, four brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Monday, March 10, 2014, at Essling Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Finney officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10-11 am at Essling Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Pine Lake Cemetery.
