David L. Ellis Oct. 12, 1925 - April 22, 2014 GOSHEN - David L. Ellis, 88, of Madison, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at his home in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born October 12, 1925, in Wabash, Indiana, to Glen F. and Sylvia (Knisley) Ellis. He moved to Goshen, Indiana, in 1935, where he graduated from Goshen High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean area during World War II and graduated from the Naval training program in electrical engineering at Iowa State University. He was employed by Northern Indiana Public Service Company for 40 years. On December 7, 1946, in New Paris, Indiana, he married Betty L. Blough. He is survived by Betty Ellis, his wife of 67 years. He is also survived by a daughter, Susan Ellis Weismer; son-in-law, Gary Weismer; grandson, Benjamin Weismer, and his wife, Ellen; granddaughter, Jennika Weismer; a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Weismer; a great-grandson, Solomon Weismer; and by numerous nieces and nephews. His parents, a brother, Percy Ellis, and two sisters, Katherine Krull and Dorothy James, preceded him in death. After moving from Goshen, Indiana, in 1982, he and his wife resided in Valparaiso, Indiana, for 14 years before moving to Madison in 1996. David was a member of First United Methodist Church, Madison; a member and Past Master of Goshen Lodge No. 12 F. and A.M.; and a Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend member. He donated his body to University of Wisconsin-Madison Medical School. David will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
