ELKHART - Dennis G. Stiver, 73, Elkhart, died at home at 12:12 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013, surrounded by his family after an extended illness. He was born on Feb. 27, 1940 in Elkhart to Orange & Evelyn (Brubaker) Stiver who preceded him in death. He married his high school sweetheart, Darlene (Anthony) Stiver on June 20, 1959. Surviving are his wife and three children, Donna (Carl) Grathwohl of Bristol, Dan (Pam) Stiver of Elkhart and David (Joy) Stiver of Indianapolis and 4 grandchildren, Alex, Hailey, Jarrod and Exavier; one brother, Brian (Rose) Stiver of Warsaw, and 2 sisters, Judy (Don) Fisher of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey and Barbara (Robert) Schuler of Elkhart. Dennis graduated from Madison Twp. High School in 1958 and attended Purdue University. He was employed at Camelot, JF Enterprise, Paragon and retired from Decorator Industries in 2006. He was an avid sports enthusiast and especially loved Notre Dame sports where he ushered at football games for many years. He was also a White Sox fan and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. His hobbies were playing golf, traveling and watching sports on TV. He was a Little League Board member & coach for 9 years at Elkhart & Concord. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret-Lienhart Funeral Home, 117 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Pastor John Hogsett of Faith United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Olive (West) Cemetery.
