Frederick Boren July 5, 1949 - May 1, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Frederick Allen Boren, 64, residing in South Bend, passed away at 12:30 pm Thursday, May 1, 2014, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born July 5, 1949, in South Bend, to Ralph and Gertrude (Marciniak) Boren, and lived most of his life in this area, except for a few years living in Carrollton, TX. Frederick is survived by his mother, Gertrude Boren of South Bend; sisters, Darlene Ford and Dianne (Irvin) Handerkofph, both of South Bend, Rebecca (Mark) Adrian of South Bend and Pamela (Terry Hoof) Modlin of Niles, MI; brothers, Ernest Boren, James (Sherry) Boren and Jeffrey (Kimberly) Boren, all of South Bend, and Russell (Lynn) Boren of Rolling Prairie; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Boren; and two nephews, Brandon Modlin and Gregory Boren. Frederick served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of E5. He attended cosmetology school and loved Bobby Vinson music and dancing. Frederick worked as a self-employed painter for many years. He also loved his two cats, Dot and Mikey. They meant the world to him. Frederick was a true friend; he never met a stranger and will be greatly missed. There will be no public services.
