George Franklin Beutter Aug. 19, 1929 - July 30, 2014 SOUTH BEND - George Franklin Beutter, 84, peacefully passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 19, 1929, to Esther (Stief) and Frank Beutter. He was raised with his twin sisters, Delores (Don) Schlarb, who both preceded him in death, and Lois (John, deceased) Meissner of Wakarusa. George married Zuella Osmundson on January 28, 1950. Together they raised their family, George Andrew (Janice), John Christian (Deborah Zinn), Thomas Alan (Mary Beth) and Elizabeth (Andy) Borowski. He was a proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His loyal dog, Boomer, was always by his side. George proudly lived and worked his entire life on the Beutter family farm, which was homesteaded by his great-grandfather, Joseph Beutter, in 1864. George was a dairy farmer and a member of Associated Milk producers Inc. In 1977 he hosted an AMPI open house for 2,000 visitors! George was also a member of the Dairy Council of Indiana from 1980-1986. In 1987 he attained the first perfect inspection score on the state dairy survey, which was a proud accomplishment for George and his family. The family is grateful to the nurses and spiritual care coordinator from The Center for Hospice Care for their dedication to providing comfort at such a difficult time. A "Celebration of Life" open house will be held at the Knights of Columbus, 61533 Ironwood Rd., South Bend, IN 46614 on Saturday, August 9, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. A private family service will be held on the farm as well. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
