NORTH JUDSON - John Rocco Boilini, 89, of North Judson, Indiana, passed away on November 1, 2013, at Pulaski Health Care Center. He was born on October 26, 1924, in North Judson, to William and Theresa (Pichietti) Boilini. On October 21, 1950, he married Dorothea Troike. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2000. She preceded him in death on December 24, 2008. John was an excellent student, being promoted two grades in one year in elementary school, finishing high school at the top of his class, and receiving the Chamber of Commerce basketball award in 1942. John and Dorothea began their marriage as farmers, with a dairy herd, chickens and pigs. John farmed the land. They also made cheese. They sold their eggs in Chicago with ladies lining up to purchase their products weekly. In 1953, at the age of 29, he began Boilini Seed Service. They spent many hours servicing local farmers and enjoyed helping them with their crop decisions. John was promoted to district sales manager for Pioneer Seed Company and managed salesmen in northwest Indiana, as well as running his own business from 1960 to 1982. He won many awards for his work, including having the highest seed corn sales worldwide. He retired from sales in 1988. He was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in North Judson, IN, and St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Bradenton, FL. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. But beyond his many accomplishments, John was first and foremost a loving, caring husband and father, who always put family first. He was a role model for his daughters of the importance of family, God and having a good attitude at all times. He instilled a strong work ethic in his daughters and showed all who knew him the value of integrity. He is survived by four daughters: Linda (Steve) Dwyer of Burlingame, CA, Shanz Boilini of Los Angeles, CA, Donna Rowe of North Judson, IN, and Laura (Kirk) Boilini of St. Augistine, FL. Grandchildren, Barrett Anderson, Carolyn Lees, Bradford Lees, Allison and Michael Dwyer, Brigitte Guthrie (Ray), Giovanni and Giselle Tolson, all of California, John Rowe (Tina) of North Judson, IN, Andrew Rowe of Valparaiso, IN, Leslie Henricks of Hawaii and Lance Henricks of Lafayette, IN. Two brothers, Frank Boilini of Venice, FL, and Richard Boilini of North Judson, IN. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine Spoor, and his brother, William Boilini. John and Dorothea spent many winters in Florida where they both enjoyed and excelled at golfing. He won many tournaments and awards with twice getting a hole-in-one. The first came on January 30, 2011, and the second came just 2 months later on April 7th. Friends and family may call on Friday, November 8, from 4-8 PM CT at the O'Donnell Funeral Home, Inc., North Judson, IN. A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 9, at 10 AM CT in the SS Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. There will be an hour visitation prior to the Mass at the funeral home.
