SOUTH BEND - Mamie K. Fowler, 91, of South Bend, formerly of Jasonville, IN, passed away on Tuesday, December 24th at 7:15 PM in her residence. Mamie was born on May 31, 1922 in Jasonville, IN to Henderson and Dorothy Byarley. In June of 1946 in South Bend, the former Mamie K. Byarley married Cecil W Fowler, Sr., who preceded her in death on August 5th, 2006. Survivors include one daughter, Karen C. Fenner of South Bend, IN; two sons, Cecil W. (Janet) Fowler, Jr. of Canton, MI and Kevin R. Fowler of Big Rapids, MI; and two sisters, Betty Morley and Sue Stark, both of Jasonville, IN. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, William, Phillip, and Robert Byarley; and two sisters, Shirley Ann Byarley and Josephine Huff. Mamie enjoyed reading, collecting dolls, being with family, and fostering babies in Michigan and Indiana. Visitation will be held Friday, January 3rd from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Cox Funeral Home located at 218 S. Meridian St., Jasonville, IN 47438. Services will be Saturday, January 4th at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with Rev. Sam Bush officiating. Burial is to follow at Lebanon Cemetery in Midland, IN. The family requests all memorial contributions be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, South Bend, IN handled local arrangements and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Mamie Fowler family.
