Patricia Jo (Rockhill) Zawierucha

SPRINGFIELD , TN - Patricia Jo (Rockhill) Zawierucha, 76yrs, of Springfield died in her home on December 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in South Bend, Indiana, the only child of Robert T. and Vivian P. (Runyan) Rockhill. She lived in Mishawaka , IN and graduated from St. Joseph High School in South Bend, IN in 1959. In 1962, she married Dennis J. Zawierucha at St. Monica's Catholic Church in Mishawaka, IN. They have two daughters with two beloved deceased premature infants. Mr. & Mrs. Zawierucha have lived in Connersville, IN; Lafayette, IN; Grand Rapids, MI; and Springfield, TN. They are members of Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Springfield, TN.

Mrs. Zawierucha prided herself as a homemaker and made raising her daughters her priority. She set the example for her daughters by returning to school, and in 1980 she graduated with honors, receiving her Associates Degree in Nursing from Purdue University. She practiced High-Risk Obstetrics in Grand Rapids, MI; was Director of Maternal-Child Health at Jesse Holman Jones in Springfield, TN; and retired from NHC in Springfield, TN where she was Co-Assistant Director of Nursing and taught CNA classes.

Mrs. Zawierucha had a life-long history of generously giving her time and talents to her community and her family. To name just a few, she volunteered as Director of Religious Education, Precinct Judge for the Robertson County Board of Elections, a member of the Community Ministry, and even a bearer of the 1996 Olympic Torch. In addition, she never missed an opportunity to inspire or be there for her daughters and grandchildren.

She leaves behind her beloved husband Dennis, her daughters Denise (Don) Sharpe, a Nurse Practitioner student, of GA and Michelle Gordon, a Nurse Practitioner, of TN. Mrs. Zawierucha is also survived by her grandchildren David, Nathan, & Arin of GA and Jeremy, Megan, Allison, & Andrew of TN. She is a beloved aunt and cousin to many. She will be dearly missed and will live on in the hearts and memories of all those she has touched.

Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any Parkinson's Organization.
