MISHAWAKA - Sandra Sue Keener passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Sandy was born January 14, 1941 in Warsaw, Indiana to Dale and Juanita Warner. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and a caring nurse. Sandy's biggest fear was not being able to provide for her two boys. She worked three jobs, went to school and received her nursing degree from Purdue University while caring for her sons Kim and Kerry "Pete". Sandy received the love and admiration of every person she met. Her giving spirit transcended her daily life. Sandy worked as a nurse for over 50 years at Plymouth General Hospital, Elkhart General Hospital, the Ask-a-Nurse program and many other locations even after retirement. Even in death Sandy helped others by being an organ donor. Sandy will be missed by her two sons, Kim (Pat) Keener, and Kerry "Pete" (Terri) Keener; sisters, Darlene & (Larry) Speigle, Wendy & (John) Kimpel, and Marsha & (Steve) Schmitz; daughter-in-law, Sue Keener; grandchildren, Aryn, Michael, Rachel, Sam, and Maggie; great-granddaughter, Dixie, and many nieces and nephews. Sandy had many loving friends. A celebration of life event will be held on October 19, 2013 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at Aloha, 937 N. Detroit Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580. McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw is entrusted with arrangements.
