SOUTH BEND - Sharon Lee Olivier, 70, passed away at 9:30 PM Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on Nov. 1, 1943, in Ross, California, to the late Gilbert "Slim" and Dorothy (Cruthers) Barnes, and was a 1961 graduate of Niles High School. On May 21, 1966, in South Bend, she was united in marriage to Laurence Olivier, who preceded her in death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Barnes. Sharon worked as a receptionist and retired from Real Services after many years. She had a great love for animals, especially her beloved dog "Chance" and her beloved cats "Deuteronomy" and "Harley." She loved sewing, reading, cooking, flower gardening, and as she said, "just digging in the dirt." Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren. She was an amazing woman who would do anything for them. She carried so many titles all through her life. Mom, Nana, Sis, wife, caretaker, go-between -- you name it, she carried it, and all with grace and courage. She was loved every minute of her life. Sharon is survived by her daughters, Candace Olivier and Christina (Terri Strunk) Olivier, both of South Bend; son, Anthony "Tony" (Betty) Olivier of South Bend; grandchildren, Shane (Amanda Hunt) Olivier of Niles, Katrina Shafer and Rachael Shafer, both of South Bend; step-grandchildren, Adam (Rebecca) Celichowski of Niles and Barbara (Bill Powell) Parmley of South Bend; great-grandchildren, Kanyn and Jocelyn; and step-great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Nathan, Tyler, Sasha, Kellie, Asia, Jade, Kenneth, Samantha, Dorian, Frank, Chyann and Isabella; sister, Gilda "Lori" Barnes of Alabama; and stepmother, Marna Barnes of Niles. Memorial services for Sharon Lee Olivier will be 7:00 PM Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Sandie Vanik, minister at Unity Church of Peace will officiate. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the services at the funeral home. Interment will take place on May 21, 2014, at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Small Animal Rescue or a .
