Martha E. Bourgon Aug. 16, 1918 - Jan. 11, 2014 ELKHART - Martha Elizabeth Bourgon passed away Jan. 11, 2014, at Signature Healthcare of South Bend where she had resided the past two years. She was 95. Born Aug. 16, 1918, in Elkhart, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Mary (Smith) Winslow. She was married to Charles (Hubbie) Bourgon on April 27, 1945. That marriage ended in a divorce in September 1966. She worked in retail most of her adult life at South Bend stores: Gilbert's, Robertson's and L.S. Ayers. She continued to meet monthly with a group of co-workers from L.S. Ayres Scottsdale following her retirement. She will be especially remembered for her friendliness to everyone and her love of animals. She was a member of St. Matthew's Cathedral Parish in South Bend. Martha is survived by her nieces: Marilyn Sommers (Odenton, MD), and Jeanne Marszalek (Starkville, MS); close and longtime friends, Connie and Bryan Graham (South Bend), and numerous nephews and nieces. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
