Louise Klinger Oct. 10, 1918 - April 28, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Louise Klinger, 95, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:37 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2014, at her home. She was born at home on October 10, 1918, in South Bend, IN, to the late Harry and Cora (Plummer) Bowers. On February 14, 1947, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in South Bend, IN, she was united in marriage to Joseph Klinger, who preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Klinger is survived by her daughter, Janice (Ernie) Retek of New Carlisle, IN; son, Art (Jenny) Klinger of Granger; stepson, Ronald "Red" (Shan) Klinger of Odessa, TX; four grandchildren, Matthew (Debbie), Grace, Jacob and Taylor-Leigh; three step-grandchildren, Stewart, Sarah and Tessa; and brother, Charles Henry Bowers of Cash, OK. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ellen McNeal and Frances Green. Mrs. Klinger worked at Mark's Chinese Restaurant, Ball Band-Uniroyal, Tepe's in the jewelry department and retired in 2000 from the South Bend Medical Foundation Blood Bank where she brought juice to the donors. She was an avid bowler until age 92. She enjoyed gardening, dancing, baking and sewing. She made costumes for the Royal Majestics Baton Corp. She loved to gamble in Las Vegas where she was an expert on the slot machines. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Louise Klinger may be offered to Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
