Walter R. Brim Feb. 7, 1926 - May 11, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Walter Robert Brim ended his journey here on earth and was ushered into the presence of Jesus on May 11, 2014. He was 88 years old. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on February 7, 1926, to Walter Ervin and Laura Mable Brim. He was a vigorous red-haired boy. He graduated from New Albany High School and attended officers training at Indiana State Teachers College after enlisting in the United States Navy. He served in the South Pacific during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. He met Patricia Jane Wiseman and they married on May 29, 1947. They have been married for 67 years. He began his career as a salesman for B.F. Goodrich. He soon advanced to manager in Peru, Indiana, and Peoria, Illinois. He then spent 35 years as a salesman and broker for Mutual of Omaha. He received many sales awards during these years and was a member of the company's elite salesman, "The Chairman's Counsel." Walt was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors and was inspired by the beauty of the earth. His boldness coupled with his red hair earned him the title of "Big Red" to his buddies. With his many friends and family his hunting and fishing adventures are legendary. Walt loved God and his church, serving as a trustee on the church board, the Sunday School Superintendant and a Bible Study teacher. He received the "Distinguished Service Award," the highest award for service bestowed by the Nazarene Church. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. His loyalty and support for his family was felt by his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Patricia, and his three children: Cynthia Jane Reddy, Robert Bruce Brim and John Wayne Brim and wife Rebecca. Walt and Pat have 9 grandchildren: Michael Reddy Jr. and wife Tricia, Mark Reddy and wife, Tracey, Michelle Smith and husband, J.D., Carlene Klinksick and husband, Clint, Bobbi Jo Miller and husband, Steve, Susie Brim, Crystal Brim and husband, Joseph, Laura Taningco and husband, Lee, and Ryan Brim (deceased).
