Walter L. Brock Jan. 6, 1946 - May 11, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Walter L. "Butch" Brock, 68, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, in his residence. Butch was born January 6, 1946, in Elkhart, IN, to the late Walter Lee and Vena I. (Haley) Brock. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Stephenson. Butch is survived by his sisters, Sundy Corbett of South Bend and Cathy (Jim) Shafer of South Bend; two brothers, Nelson Brock of Niles, MI, and David Brock of South Bend; nieces, Annette Royce, Amanda Molnar, Michelle Molnar, Kaley Minder, Meaghan Conard, and several other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the love of his life and soulmate, Bonnie Shields, longtime best friend for over 60 years, John Minder, and his dog, "Chicko." Butch proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by the South Bend Housing Authority as an inspector, and held his Real Estate license. Butch was a member of American Legion Post 51, Buchanan, Clay Democratic Club, and South Bend F.O.P. He enjoyed reading, his computer, and music, where he played guitar and keyboards in several bands. He was loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A special thanks to David from Hospice for his support and care of Butch in his final weeks. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd., with Rev. Paul Deed officiating. Committal with Military Honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
