Donald Lee Lindsey March 5, 1947 - May 31, 2014 GRANGER - Donald Lee Lindsey, 67, passed away in to the loving arms of Jesus on May 31, 2014, surrounded by family. Born March 5, 1947, he was the son of the late Harold and Mary Pauline (Beissel) Lindsey. A daughter, Kathleen Schuh, also preceded him in death. On December 8, 1973, Don married Lillian Chisholm. They celebrated over 40 years of wedding bliss together. Also left to cherish his memory are two children, Joe (Deann) Toth and Dawn (Perry) Hampton, both of Granger; two brothers, Joe (Darlene) Lindsey of Mishawaka and Fr. Bob Lindsey of Kansas City, MO; and five grandchildren, whom he adored, Lindsay, Christopher, Kelsey, Jordan and Bryce. Don graduated from St. Matthew's Grade School and Riley High School. He had his own carpet business, Don Lee's Carpet; and was also a co-owner of Richland Motors on Western Ave. with his best friend and a fellow firefighter, Ed Richart. He was a Fireman for the South Bend Fire Dept. for 31 years, from 1976 2007. He had a great friendship with many of the other firefighters, and would meet with them once a month to play cards at someone's home, which he enjoyed very much. He was a member of Club 15 on Jefferson Ave., where he participated in their golf outings, cards games, and spent many afternoons with friends, after having a morning breakfast at Allie's Caf‚. More than anything, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with family and he made his children's friends his friends. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Thursday, June 5, at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR23, enter off Cherry Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1:30 PM at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with his brother, Fr. Bob, concelebrating. Friends may call one hour prior to the Mass in the church. The family would like to thank all the staff from Harbor Light Hospice, the Cardiac Hospital of St. Vincent's in Indy, and Dr. Sarnat and his staff at Midwest Cardiology at SJRMC, for the wonderful care and all the compassion they showed to both Don and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harbor Light Hospice of Mishawaka or to St. Vincent's Hospital for cardiac patients. To send condolences to the family, please visit
