Regina Armstrong June 13, 1945 - June 22, 2014 SOUTH BEND - On June 22, 2014 at 12:06am with her purpose fulfilled and journey complete, Regina Armstrong peacefully transitioned from this earthly life to an eternal heavenly home at the Michiana Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mishawaka, Indiana. Regina Armstrong was born on June 13, 1945 to Rosie and Otis Hunter in Chicago, Illinois at Cook County Hospital. She resided in Robbins, Illinois until the year 2000 then relocated to South Bend Indiana. Regina was the fourth of nine children. Regina gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of Great Hope M.B.C. where the Reverend W. L. Cook was pastor. She later joined Mt. Calvary M.B.C. where the pastor was Reverend DeLloyd Miller. In 2003, after relocating to South Bend Indiana, Regina became a devout member of Mt. Calvary M.B.C where Reverend John Arnold was the pastor. Regina later became a faithful member at Bethlehem M.B.C. where Reverend Keith Witherspoon is the pastor. She remained a member in good standing and was very active in the choir. She was known to have her tambourine and maracas with her every Sunday. Regina graduated from Eisenhower H.S. in Blue Island in 1963, and then later received her Cosmetologist License from American Beauty Culture School in Harvey, Illinois in July of 1976. Regina leaves to cherish her two daughters: Tamela T. (Willie) Brock and Lateka Armstrong (Isaac) Jones; one son; Calvin Armstrong, all of South Bend, Indiana; four sisters: Carolyn Bolton of Dixmoor, Illinois, Rosemary Brown of Posen, Illinois, Benita Hunter of Lansing, Illinois, and Yvonne (Horace) Matthews of Goshen, Indiana; one brother, Ronald (Thera) Hunter of San Francisco, Northern California; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of special 'niece daughters', nieces, nephews, and friends. Regina was preceded in death by her mother, Rosie Hunter; father, Otis Hunter; two brothers: Otha Hunter and Charles Hunter; and one sister, Yolanda Hunter). Regina was a God fearing, strong, and independent woman. She touched many hearts along her life's journey. She faced many difficult challenges with dignity and grace. Regina was an upfront and honest woman who loved hard. Her faith, her courage, and her love will forever be remembered by those who knew her. Local services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 24393 Fillmore Road, South Bend. Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 11:00 a.m. Out of town services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 in Great Hope Baptist Church, 13615 Lawndale Avenue, Robbins, Illinois.
