Mary E. Bishop Jan. 22, 1935 - July 5, 2014 SOUTH BEND - On the afternoon of July 5, 2014, God saw fit to call from labor Mary E. Bishop. She departed this earthly life at Hospice House of St. Joseph County at the age of 79. Mary was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee, on January 22, 1935, to Robert and Mable Brown. Mary professed a hope in Christ at an early age at Ranson Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Earlier in her life she united in Holy Matrimony to Wilbert M. Bishop, Sr. After relocating to South Bend, Indiana, she united with Olivet A.M.E. Church. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Celecia Brown, a devoted caregiver who stood by her until the end; a son, Wilbert M. Bishop, Jr., both of South Bend, Indiana; a stepdaughter, Ebony D. Bishop; a sister, Pauline McClain; a brother, Edward D. Brown, all of Nashville, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Brown of Niles, Michigan. Mary was affectionately known by numerous people as "Mu." She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert M. Bishop, Sr.; two daughters: Wilma Jean Bishop Harley and Roslyn Yvonne "Bonnie" Bishop; two sisters: Sadie Osborne Greer and Martha Jones; also a brother, Robert Brown. Local services for Mary E. Bishop will be held on Friday, July 11, 2014, in Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. and funeral service at 5:30 p.m. Tennessee services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, 2014, in Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home, 508 W. College Street, Fayetteville, Tennessee. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Belfast, Tennessee.
