Claudia Kay Stephens Obituary
Claudia Kay Stephens Oct. 9, 1956 - July 22, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Claudia K. Stephens, 57, formerly of Mishawaka, IN, passed away July 22 after being diagnosed with cancer at University Heights Health and Community Center in Indianapolis, IN. She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Stephens, and stepfather, Charles R. Martin, grandparents, Paul and Anne Kocsis, and Robert and Minnie Stephens. She is survived by her mother, Mariann Kocsis Stephens Martin, brother, Mark Stephens, both of Greenwood, IN; her stepbrothers, Charles Martin (Kendra) of Maryland, David Martin (Ann) of Connecticut, Uncle Leroy Stephens of Bremen, IN; and many cousins from the Kocsis, Sinkovics and Stephens; in addition to special friends, Kumar, Andrea, Yuri and Casey, and Bob and Jane Busenbark and Connie. Claudia graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1975 and IUPUI I Indianapolis. Claudia was very proud of her Hungarian heritage. Every year on Christmas and special occasions she made Kolach [Hungarian nut rolls} for the Kocsis boys, family and friends. Claudia worked for several attorneys in South Bend and Indianapolis and KYB Corp. in Franklin. She also worked for the Republican State Committee as a receptionist. Claudia was always helping people and had a great love for cats. It seemed like every stray cat found their way to her house. She took them to the vet and had them checked over and neutered or spayed. She found many homes for the strays. And of course she always kept a few for herself. She enjoyed true Civil War books and gardening. Claudia had a deep faith and love in The Lord and read her Bible every day. I lost a wonderful and loving daughter and will miss her every day of my life. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Claudia's name to either the or Magrane Animal Shelter at 2324 Grape Road, Mishawaka IN 46545. Friends may visit one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Memorial service on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka.
