SOUTH BEND - Patricia H. Meyer, 82, of Daphne, AL, passed away peacefully at her home on October 10, 2012. She was born on October 28, 1929, to the late Elsa M. Cooper and Harold C. Hahn in Chicago, IL. After her father died the family moved to South Bend, IN, where her mother met and married the late George A. Cooper. She is survived by four children, Janet (Bill) Larsen of Schaumburg, IL, George Meyer of Auburn, CA, Karen (Paul) Murray of Daphne, AL, and Kristin (Greg) Harris of Chelsea, AL. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. On August 7, 1951, she married the late Dr. Robert J. Meyer, a founding member of Dental Associates, Inc. Patricia graduated from the Indiana University School of Nursing and worked as a nurse for several years before taking leave to raise her children. She resumed nursing after moving to the Mobile Bay area in 1979, where she spent 15 years in the ER at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, AL. She retired in 1994 and spent the next 12 years traveling the world and cataloging birds, having seen and recorded over 60% of the world's birds. For the last 10 years she was an avid cat breeder and devoted supporter of Norwegian Forest Cats, attending many shows and earning top awards. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. November 2, 2012, at St. Mark's Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham, AL. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Winn Feline Foundation Ricky Fund, 355 Cornell St., Wyckoff, NJ 07481; or to Camp Eberhart, 10481 Camp Eberhart Road, Three Rivers, MI 49093.
