MISHAWAKA - Rebecca Hope Smith, 45, of Mishawaka, died Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. The South Bend native was a member of First Brethren Church in Goshen. She enjoyed her dogs, "Cookie Monster" & "Sassy Doo" and her time spent in Florida. Hope was a dedicated teacher and hairdresser and was an animal rescue advocate, operating a shelter and finding necessary foster care. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Smith; sons, Brandon Murphy of Goshen and Bronson Lee Murphy-Annus of Bristol; grandchildren, Andrea Lee Murphy & Jayden Murphy; brothers, Miles "Ace" (LaDonna) Whiting of Mishawaka, Ortie (Grace) Leemon of Nappanee and Larry Hay of South Bend; sisters, Michael Victoria Parrack of Mishawaka, Mary Ann Jankowski of Osceola and Sherrie Hay-Lazo of Ormand Beach, FL; her mother, Sharonn Lucas of Goshen; and her maternal grandmother, Pearl Overholser of Bristol. There are no services or calling at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy.
