Tyeshon Lamar Dotson Jan. 4, 1990 - Sept. 20, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Mr. Tyeshon Lamar Dotson "Ty," a resident of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2015. On January 4, 1990, in South Bend, Tyeshon "Ty" was born to the union of La Shonda James and DeWange Dotson. Tyeshon had a very, very special bond with his children along with his family and friends. Ty had four boys and one girl whom he cherished with everything in him; they were his life. Ty was a loving and respectful young man with a love so strong for music that he learned how to play the drums and other instruments by ear. Ty had many gifts and talents that God had given to him. Ty's love for music landed him on stage at Monroe Elementary School; he loved it so much that he ended up performing at Notre Dame University where he matured into a young musical rapper, a song away from his first album being completed. Ty also loved singing, playing basketball, and he loved to cut hair, also spending time with all of his children, family and friends. Mr. Dotson leaves to survive and mourn his loving family which includes his mother, LaShonda James; his father, DeWange Dotson; one sister, Kendaya Smith; three brothers, Arsenio Smith, Jaleel Dotson and Rodney McCormick; five children, Jay`Shon Dotson, and Tye`Shon Dotson Jr., all of South Bend, Indiana, Mariyah Dotson, Tyerice Dotson and Nasir Dotson, all of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandmothers, Patricia (James) Williams and Ernestine McLin; maternal great-grandmother, Ollie (Alexander) James; aunts, Sharon James, Marjorie (Tyrone) Henderson, Shaina James, all of South Bend, Indiana, and Julaine (James) Brown of Charlotte, North Carolina; uncles, Willie Saul, (a father figure), Roosevelt Thomas of Elizabeth Town, Kentucky, James Thomas, Andre Mclin, Marion Wright and Cornelius Russell of South Bend, Indiana; parental grandmother, Gladys Dotson; grandfather, Tommie Dotson; and other family, Christine Dotson, Norma Jean Dotson, Linda Dockery, Rita Dotson, Herbert Dotson, Tommy Dotson, Raymond (Mary) Dotson and Tommie Dotson Jr., all of South Bend, Indiana, and Linda Williams of Chicago, Illinois; special loved ones, god-mother, Ta Shauna Martin, Carmen Shelton and Yolonda Lott; special friends on Mom's side, Desmond Hawkins, (producer of his music), Dena Denson; special friends on Dad's side, La Porsha Dotson, Craig Dockery, Kiara Dockery, and many other relatives and friends. Family members who preceded him in death include his great-grandfather, Dick Jones "D.K."; great-grandfather, Ernest James Sr.; grandfather, Danny Thomas; grandmother, Christine Thomas; aunts, Velma James and Verna James; uncles, Dale Lee Jones, Ernest James Sr., David Parker and Corey V. Coleman; and nephew, Arsenio Smith Jr. Services for Mr. Tyeshon Dotson will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Pentecostal Cathedral COGIC, where friends may visit one hour before the services.
